Terrell Joseph Haggerty
Terrell “Terry” Joseph of Yorba Linda, a beloved father, brother, cousin, friend, and co-worker passed away on July 14, 2021 after a brave four-year battle with an aggressive form of cancer. Armed with a strong Christian faith, the unyielding support of his loving children, and a wonderful medical team, Terry outlived by several years even the most optimistic prognosis.
Terry was a true family man, who loved his children Sean and Erin more than words can describe. He loved being with them whether it was cheering from the sidelines at their games, on the court as their coach, exploring new places, or just hanging out in the backyard- his joy came from his time with them. Terry often talked about his time with his kids, in particular their vacations at Lake Tahoe, ski trips to Mammoth Mountain, and on the beaches of Orange County.
Terry enjoyed spending time with his friends over a good meal, hiking, or tasting a good cup of coffee. He cherished and grew in his faith in Christ through personal time, various study groups, and attending Christian lectures.
Terry was a native Californian, born and raised in Lakewood. He attended La Mirada High School where he was an excellent student and athlete. He led his high school football team as the quarterback and had the special experience during those years of being coached by his dad. Terry graduated from UCLA with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a life-long Bruins football and basketball fan. Terry’s degree led him to a highly successful career in the aerospace industry, with nearly 30years at Northrop Grumman in El Segundo. His contributions were wide-ranging, and included significant work on the International Space Station, the B-2 Stealth Bomber Avionics Cooling System and the F/A-18 aircraft Environmental Control System. Terry had a love for system testing and performance analysis. He recently received recognition from the US Navy for his important contribution to joint US Navy, Boeing and Northrop Grumman work resolving pilot physiological events.
Terry was predeceased by his beloved parents Leo and Charlotte (Wilhelmi) Haggerty. Terry always felt fortunate and blessed to be part of this close-knit family and had many happy memories of his childhood with his four brothers. He greatly valued spending time with his many aunts, uncles and cousins during family reunions and vacations. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Sean and Erin and his stepchildren, Kyle and Kurtis, brothers: Kent (Stacey), Darren (Heidi), Kevin, Dennis, and his nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Terry will be held on Saturday, August 7, at 12:00 Noon at Canyon Hills Friends Church, 20400 Fairmont Connector in Yorba Linda, California.
