It is with great pain in our hearts to announce the passing of Sylvia E. (Caudillo) Lester in Orange, CA on 29 July 2019. She was surrounded by family and death came as a relief from the illness that plagued her. Sylvia was born to the late Alfonso Caudillo and Juana Torres on February 3, 1946. She graduated from Santa Ana High School and went on to have a long career in the health insurance sector, with her final position being at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, before retiring.
She is survived by her husband Robert, her daughter Lisa Salas, her grandson David, and siblings – Luis, Bertha and Elizabeth. Sylvia held family first and loved spending time with her siblings, nieces and nephews. Although her daughter and grandson lived in Europe, they found time to spend together traveling or talking regularly by phone or FaceTime.
Sylvia built up numerous close friendships through school, work, church or in her neighborhood. Those friends filled her social calendar, especially after retiring from work, and many were close by to visit or lend a helping hand when her health declined. She traveled extensively and visited several European countries and made the trip of a lifetime to the Holy Land.
Sylvia could be found walking the neighborhood catching up with the neighbors, taking weekend train trips with her husband, spending time with family enjoying a delicious meal, reading, shopping or watching the latest Spanish-language novelas on TV. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society https://www.cancer.org/
