June 25, 2018 – Forever in Our Hearts

With hearts full of love and unimaginable sorrow, we announce the passing of our precious daughter, Scarlett Ivory Guillen, born on June 25, 2018

Scarlett was the beloved daughter of Kimberly and Isaiah, and the adored little sister of Elena, a proud member of the cousin crew. Though her time with us was far too short, the impact of her beautiful life will be felt forever in our hearts and memories of her.

Scarlett’s smile could brighten any room. She was positive, cheerful, outgoing, and full of life. She never let fear define her. Every doctor’s appointment, every challenge, and every obstacle was met with remarkable courage. She faced each day head on without complaint, showing a strength far beyond her years. She taught everyone around her what true bravery looked like.

She loved playing softball and proudly wore number 22. She was the loudest in the dugout cheering on her teammates and always yelling to her family from the field. She always had a way of convincing her teammates that she was the fastest at the game "rabbit' even though she knew she wasn't but convinced herself she was.She had a special love for sunflowers and found love for them through the song "Sunflower" inspired by the Spider-verse soundtrack. Her favorite quote from her all time favorite superhero (Miles Morales)  “Nah, Imma do my own thing.” Those words perfectly reflected the fearless way she lived every day.

Scarlett had recently celebrated her First Holy Communion, a beautiful milestone in her Catholic faith that brought her and our family great joy and comfort.

She loved spending time at Disneyland with her family, creating memories filled with laughter and magic and lots of pasta from Plaza Inn. She had a way of always forcing everyone who went to Disneyland with her to end the night on the teacups ride no matter how bad they didn't want to go. She never took no as an answer , one way or another Scarlett would win at every argument. She also shared her dad’s lifelong love of professional wrestling, cheering passionately at events and never hesitating to humorously “flip off” the villains who dared to go against her favorite wrestlers. 

Scarlett’s family believed in making every moment count. Their motto, “Live now, cry later,” became the way they faced every challenge together. Because of that love, and because of Scarlett’s incredible joy for life, she continued fighting far longer than anyone expected. She treasured every adventure, every laugh, and every moment spent with the people she loved most.

Scarlett leaves behind a legacy of courage, resilience, faith, and unconditional love. She reminded us that life is measured not by its length but by the love we share, the joy we create, and the strength we show in the face of adversity.

Although our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the gift of Scarlett’s life. Her bravery will continue to inspire us, her laughter will echo in our memories, and her love will remain in our hearts forever. If love could have saved her she would have lived forever.

We will, Scarlett. We will honor you by living with the same courage, joy, and fearless love that you showed every single day.
