Obituary for Robert Albert Walter

Robert Albert Walter, “Bob”, passed away into the arms of his Lord on Sunday, April 28, 2024.  Robert was born on January 29, 1926, in Orange, California, to Albert and Emily Walter.

Bob attended Orange High School.  He enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17 where he served as a mechanic for Patrol/Torpedo (PT) boats in the Philippines. After serving in World War II, Bob drove tanker trucks, delivering gasoline to service stations throughout Southern California at night to pay for his college education at Chapman University. Following graduation, Bob worked for the County of Orange as a real-estate appraiser and then had his own appraisal business.

Bob married Peggy Lundberg in 1955 and modeled to their family and friends a loving Christ-centered marriage that lasted for 67 years.  Bob was a passionate man that loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his wife Peggy, his children, antique automobiles, and woodworking.  He demonstrated Christian love for others through his talents that were used to build homes with Habitat for Humanity, help friends restore their cars, build cabinets and tables for his Church, Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana CA, and rebuild medical equipment for the Samaritan Care Center.  Bob continually gave God thanks for the many blessings in his life that included a multitude of strong friendships he developed over the 98 years he livedin Southern California.  

Bob now joins his wife Peggy in the eternal presence of God whom they served together on this earth and now praise for evermore in the heavens above.  As many knew them, “Bob and Peggy” provided their children, grandchildren, and friends with an amazing legacy of livesof joy, commitment, and service that one would do well to emulate.  They made it clear to their family that this life was only possible through faith in Jesus the Christ who provides forgiveness of sins and communion with God now and forever.

Bob is survived by his three children, Steve Walter of Dayton, NV, Nancy Wallinder (Arne) of Enköping, Sweden, and Mark Walter (Leigh) of Vestavia Hills, AL; hisgrandchildren Mariah Walter, Emelie Wallinder, Johanna Edlund (Jonas), Hannah Walter, and Samuel Walter.  A Celebration of Life and Witness Service for Bob will be held in Munzing Hall at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 13922 Prospect Ave., Santa Ana CA 92705, on Wednesday May 29th at 11:00 a.m.  Flowers may be sent to the Church. Gifts in honor of Bob can be made to Trinity United Presbyterian Church or Southwest Community Center, 1601 W.
