Bob Schlueter went to be with his Lord on October 16, 2025, after a two-year battle with cancer, which he fought bravely. He was the loving husband of Julie, the beloved father of Lauren (Steven) and Leah (Brandon), grandfather of James, with a granddaughter soon to be born. Bob is also survived by his mother, Mary K, siblings Kathryn (Peter) and Brian (Anne-Marie), six nieces and nephews, many cousins and a large network of friends.
Bob was born on August 2, 1963, in Colorado Springs, CO. He developed a love for the mountains and outdoors early in life, as the family had a mountain cabin that was one of his favorite places. Bob excelled at working with his hands, and after high school, he began work as a mechanic. The rest of the family moved to Southern California in 1981, but Bob stayed behind in Colorado Springs for a time, finally joining the family in California in 1982. Soon after, he met Julie at a mixer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Orange, and they married in 1988. Bob began a 40-year career with Thorpe Construction, rising to Vice President of Field Operations. He also became a licensed contractor and built a successful business remodeling homes, restaurants, and microbreweries.
Much of Bob’s success was due to his integrity, insistence on excellence, and the respectful way he treated everyone. Bob had a friendly, open personality, and he loved to help and connect with people. He became a mentor for many who needed guidance in their lives, and he was always willing to share that his faith in Christ was his anchor. Never one to sit around, Bob always had side projects – restoring classic cars; building a second home in Meadview, Arizona; remodeling his and Julie’s dream home in Villa Park; and volunteering on the St. John’s building committee. Bob, along with Julie, loved to hostgatherings at their home, and he was in his element standing at his grill or smoker to provide a delicious meal for his guests. Bob’s kind and joyful spirit will be missed by all who knew him
