Robert Roefs was and is a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He was born in Suffern, New York in 1935 and the world hasn’t been the same since. Robert was a Christian man who loved his family and country.
Robert or Baaawwwb!, as he was affectionately called, and his wife Barbara were married an amazing 65 years. They have 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and 1 on the way.
Robert served in the Marines during the Korean War and earned a Purple Heart. He was very proud to be a Marine, as he should have been. He was so affected by it, he dedicated 5 years, just recently completing and publishing a fictional book about his experience, "Blazing Wings of Fire". He flew the American and Marine Corps flag and red, white and blue were his signature colors!
He was a bit mischievous and always such fun. He was always ready with a joke…or a “Roses are Red” poem (he had one for every occasion). I don’t think he ever read a birthday card through the first time without changing the words!
Robert loved the Lord and loved people. He was quick to be your friend and he cherished every friend he ever made. You can be sure you were in his prayers if you were in need.
He will be remembered for his loving heart, corny jokes and warm hugs. A day won’t go by that he won’t be missed,
Graveside services for Robert will be held at the Riverside National Cemetery, June 22nd promptly at 1:15.
