Remedios Pagaduan

Remedios Pagaduan, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, in Anaheim, California, at the age of 92.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Guadalupe; her children: Yvonne Verkuylen (Al), Margaret Ettinger (Jim), Patrick (Diane), Gerald (Evelyn), Stephen, and Michael (Jackson); her grandchildren: Paula (Milos), Annemarie, Megan, Rachael, Katherine, Daniel, Matthew, and Niko; her great-granddaughter, Emilija; and many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Teofilo; her brother (Alexander) and her sister, Milagros.

Born on December 2, 1932, in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was the daughter of Filomeno Lamadrid and Maria Laranang. She attended St. Augustine for her primary and secondary education before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Santo Tomas.

Remedios married the love of her life and fellow Tagudinian, Teofilo, with whom she built a life centered around family, love, and adventure. Their journey together took them from Baguio to British Columbia, Canada. Though they initially planned to settle in Ontario, fate led them to Seattle, Washington and eventually to Southern California.

As a dedicated nurse, Remedios served with the County of Los Angeles, working in hospitals before serving as a Public Health Nurse in the communities surrounding South Gate.

Remedios had an adventurous spirit and a love for travel as well as a passion for fashion. A fierce competitor at the mahjong table, she relished the game and the camaraderie that came with it.

Remedios lived a life filled with love, laughter, and resilience. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered, her legacy carried on by those who were lucky enough to know her.
