Olga Stefero Obituary
On June 30th Olga Stefero, age 86, passed away at home in Yorba Linda. She was born September 25, 1937 in Pennsylvania, the second youngest of nine children. Daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Fatula, she was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters. Olga met her husband Tom in high school at a dance. While in high school Olga worked part time for the priest of the Russian Orthodox church, where she found her future husband's name was right before hers in the baptismal record. When Olga graduated from high school, she received the Betty Crocker award and an award for English. At her first job she was so well known for her excellent spelling and vocabulary, that the lead attorney commented "while Olga works here we won't need a dictionary."
In 1975 Olga and her family moved to California. She worked for Regional Center of Orange County for 28 years, retiring in 2004, and remained friends with many of her co-workers. During her first year of retirement, she entered one of her delicious cookies in the Orange County Fair and won a blue ribbon for her efforts. Her recipe was published in a cookbook and her name was in the OC Register for her first place win.
Olga loved her family, church, friends and pets. She had a special place in her heart for stray animals and opened her home to many over the years. She never forgot a birthday, sent cards for all occasions and frequently included lottery tickets (she loved to pass out scratchers). She was devoted to her church, always generous and donated to many charities.
Olga is survived by her husband Tom, daughters Larissa and Melanie Yoshimura, her husband Dean Yoshimura and granddaughter Danica Yoshimura. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
