Michael Price Obituary

Michael Craig Price, a cherished son, brother, father, and friend, left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. Born on May 9, 1959, in Riverside, California to Bridget and Arthur Price, Michael was one of eight siblings—twin boys and six girls. His mother was a proud Canadian and his father, who served in the Royal Air Force during World War II , was a British native of Belize (formerly British Honduras). Their deeply rooted pride in their heritage lived on through Michael. The Price family made their home on Archer Street in Anaheim, where Michael's childhood was filled with unbreakable family bonds and friendships that would last a lifetime.

A Loara Saxon through and through, Michael always remained close to his high school classmates and was instrumental in orchestrating reunions for the class of ’77, showcasing his innate ability to bring people together. His academic journey was marked by excellence; he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Chapman University in 1980 and went on to earn his MBA with honors from CSUF. After working for the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities, Michael returned to Chapman in 1982 where he devoted 42 years of service under four university presidents. As Vice President of Finance and Budget, Michael played a pivotal role in the university's financial success, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues whom he considered a second family.

Michael's personal life was rich with love and connection. Though his 28 year marriage to Astrid ended, they still shared pride and joy for their sons, Rafe and Austin. His love and dedication to being a father never faltered. Michael held knowledge in high esteem, instilling in his sons not just the value of education, but the importance of nourishing your soul with music—a testament to the depth of his spirit. His wit and intelligence were ever-present in their lives, creating moments of laughter and learning in equal measure. Michael's love was a steadfast, enveloping presence, guiding and nurturing his sons on their journey through life.

Over the last eight years, Michael found his soulmate in Bridget Quijada, the love of his life. Though their friendship had deep roots, it was only later in life that a romantic spark ignited, blossoming into a profound love. Bridget's affection for Michael brought out his more playful and endearing qualities, showcasing the joy and warmth that had always lain within him. Their home in Orange was always filled with laughter, friends, and family. They were truly each other's best friend, enjoying their mutual love of live music as they danced their hearts out in every dive bar in Orange County.

Michael unexpectedly passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, April 1, 2024. His absence leaves a void in the hearts of many, especially given his love, charm, and the joy he brought to every gathering.

Michael is survived by his two sons, Rafe and Austin; the mother of his children, Astrid; his siblings Bridget Lindquist, Jenny Price, Judy Price, Richard Price, Peggy Talbert, Sheila Andersen, and Elizabeth Asner; his beloved partner, Bridget Quijada; as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
