Marvel Stevens Obituary

Marvel Mae Stevens

January 6, 1932 - April 14, 2021

Our remarkable Mother, Mae Stevens, passed away on April 14, 2021.

Mom touched many lives in her 89 years and is survived by her husband, Max G. Stevens (91 yrs) and three daughters, Sandy Lund ( Carlton), Beth Davis (Dan) and Barbara Murphy (Mark), her 6 Grandchildren; Garrett, Tyson, Will, Adam, Colin and Courtney and 10 Great Grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Patricia O’Donnell (David) and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1932 to Bernadine and Fred Bailey.

Mae Bailey graduated from Lowry High School in Dearborn, Michigan in 1949.  She attended Michigan State University.  She drove her car all the way to California to live and work in Los Angeles at North American Aviation.

Mae returned back home to Detroit and she married the love of her life, Max G. Stevens on December 16, 1955.  Max and Mae were blessed with three daughters and relocated to Orange, California in 1963 where Max got a job working in the Aerospace industry and retired from Rockwell in Anaheim.

Mae was a devoted wife and mother.  She was an active Girl Scout Leader, 25 year member of a weekly CBS Bible Study group and volunteered frequently when needed.  She decided to become a Preschool teacher as her girls got older and then became the Director of a large Day Care in Anaheim at the First Presbyterian Church.

Mae and Max loved to travel and after surviving Stage Four Melanoma Skin Cancer at 61 years old they decided to hit the road.  They took multiple trips to Europe and around the USA during their retirement years. In October 2019 Mae and Max relocated to Pacifica Senior Living in Oceanside. She became involved with activities and the food committee. She was able to pass peacefully at her home there with Hospice and family .  All who knew Mae are grateful for her influence and generosity.  Mae loved her family above all else in this world.  She also loved dogs, cooking, reading, entertaining, crafts and music.  She lived a long life and will be missed by all those that loved her.
