Mark Bergman
April 13, 1957 - January 18, 2020
Mark David Bergman, son of Marlene and Fred Bergman, was born April 13, 1957 in Dearborne, Michigan. He was brother to Paul, Susan, Jane, John, James, and Peter. When Mark moved to Orange, California from Pasadena, California with his family in 1976, he met his beloved Lois at youth group at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mark asked her if she needed a ride home, just a three-block trip, and they quickly became inseparable. As they grew in love, he also grew to cherish her family as his own. They were married on June 18, 1983 and spent 36 joyful years together. He was father to his three girls, Richelle, Kara, and Caitlyn and “Papa” to Hayley, Grant, Reid, and Ivy.
Mark delighted in the Lord’s creation. From hiking with his brothers, to summer camping trips, or just sitting on the back patio with his girls having “wine time,” Mark thrived when he spent time outdoors. He was an avid golfer, music-lover, card-player, and an excellent cook. He spun the best bedtime stories for his kids and was often the light in a room, telling “Fred jokes” and goofy stories. He was naturally handy, carefully fixing up cars and homes. But, most importantly, Mark used his talents to help his friends and family in need.
Mark was a dedicated worker, and was employed with Ralphs Grocery Store for 40 years. His coworkers knew him as hard-working, but where he truly wanted to be was at home with his family. He often shared his love of Christ with them as the Bible commanded: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” Mark 16:15.
Mark was gentle and quiet in everything, except for in faith. In faith, he was triumphant.
