It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Garcia on May 18, 2026. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Maria spent most of her life in California, where she built a home filled with warmth, faith, and generosity. For more than 65 years, she walked hand in hand with her husband, Frank, building a family that became her greatest joy. She was the proud mother of Frank Jr., Mary, Marty, and Monica, and a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother – roles she embraced with humor, tenderness, and fierce love.
Maria’s story began in Mexico, where life tested her early. Orphaned as a young girl, she learned to stand strong long before most children knew the meaning of responsibility. But instead of growing hard, she grew radiant. She chose laughter and kindness.
Maria was a mother who protected fiercely, loved deeply, and spoke honestly – sometimes too honestly, as her family would lovingly joke. Her bluntness was innocent, funny, and unmistakably her.
One of Maria’s gifts was her beautiful singing voice. It was tradition that every year on her children’s birthdays, she would serenade them with the long version of the Spanish birthday song. It was an unmistakable sound of home. Her children will miss that song more than words can say.
Maria was a gifted cook. She cooked with joy, pride, and the desire to bring everyone together around the table. Feeding her family was one of her greatest pleasures, and her recipes – and the memories attached to them – will be treasured for generations.
Maria is survived by her four children as well as her grandchildren and great grandsons, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
May her spirit rest in peace.
A memorial service will be held on June 3rd at 11:00 am at Orange Seventh-day Adventist Church, followed by burial at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
