Margaret Regina Scholz (Peggy, 90) of Orange, California passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 13, 2021, nearly two weeks after suffering a massive stroke. A loving mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by one sister: Audre Babb (88); four children: Jeff (66), Kathy (65), Nancy (63), and Jim (58); as well as several grand and great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Born to Anton and Aniela Julik in Minnesota in 1931, she grew up on the family farm alongside her many brothers and sisters. In 1954, she married the man she’d spend more than 50 years with when she wedded Kenneth Scholz. While most of her adult life was spent as a homemaker, in later years, she worked as an administrative assistant at an accounting firm, spent many years as a film processor at Albert and James photography, and (more memorably to many who knew her) as a See's Candies lady at their storefront in the Orange Mall. Her children would continue to pilfer her bountiful See's collection at any and every opportunity they could.
Peggy found joy in many things in life. She was a founding member of St. Norbert Catholic Church, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, shopping, an “occasional” visit to a casino, and spending time with all her family and friends. The contents of her refrigerator and garage freezer remain as a testament to her love of cooking, while the photos that adorn her walls and shelves stand as a tribute to her great love of her family.
A funeral service for Peggy will be held at St. Norbert Catholic Church at 10 am on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Out of respect for the family, face masks are required to be worn during the service. A Celebration of Life will follow on a date yet to be determined due to concerns regarding COVID-19. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
