OBITUARY – Luis David Alvarez 10/15/1956 – 4/01/2022

Affectionately known to his friends and family as Vichy or David...

Luis David Alvarez was born to Roberto and Esperanza Alvarez, on October 15, 1956 in the city of

Coalcomán de Matamoros, Michoacán De Ocampo, Mexico. He was the youngest of five children. A

brother Manuel and three sisters Lilia, Maria Eugenia, Carmen. David, as he was known, would leave

Coalcomán in 1974 at the age of 18 to go to the Michoacán University of San Nicolás de Hidalgo in

Morelia, Mexico. There he studied Veterinary medicine and Economics. From 1980-81 he lived with his

sister Carmen and her family in Morelia, working in the State Government. Then he went to Jiquilpán,

Michoacán where he lived with his brother Manuel and his family, while he worked with him in Electric

Light Networks for the city. His next visit would be to his older sister Lilia and her family in Puerto

Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico in 1982. There he found his love of working with the people as Tour Guide for

Big Al's taking tourists to know his beautiful Vallarta. He was also Public Relations Manager at Princess

Cruises. He also worked at Camino Real Hotel as Front Office Supervisor.

In August of 1982 his first daughter Rosy was born in the city of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico, also in

1982 in November his second daughter Sasha is born in Seattle, Washington, USA. In late 1983 he came

to California on his way to Washington. In California he met and married what will be the mother of his

last two children David Samuel in 1985 and Andrea Cristina in 1989. He was married for 26 years and

lived the last 13 years of his life happily with his son David and his family.

Once in the US David would continue his search for knowledge by working in several jobs, mostly using

his true gift of working with people. He was a waiter at El Torito Restaurant for more than 10 years, he

was an Emergency Medical Technician for AMR ambulance more than 15 years helping his community

saving lives, and then as a truck driver for DBS a company where his wife also worked. He was a Guest

Service Representative for Hilton Hotel in Irvine. And Patient Coordinator at Park Buena Heart Center.

His last job would be with his Son at Griswold Industries also known as CLA VAL as a Maintenance

Mechanic.

David also loved working with computers and studied Computer Technician later in his life. He was a

man of great intelligence and liked to study and learn different subjects. Wherever David was, at work or

outside of work, he made friends easily. And when they found him years later they remembered him

with great fondness. If he could help someone get their license, or live with him while they got an

apartment, he did it wholeheartedly. He was always telling jokes and was the soul of whatever party he

was at. He also attended Centro de Fe Cristiano in Costa Mesa and The Crossing Church in Newport

Beach and made very close relationships there.

David is survived by his three sisters, Lilia, Maria Eugenia and Carmen, his brother’s widow Norma and

his Four Children, Rosy, Sasha, David and Andrea, and their spouses/partners; by his two grandchildren,

Eleyna 12 and Baby Dave of 2 and many nephews and nieces whom he loved very much.

He lived a full and happy life, even at the end of his life he was surrounded by his children and loved

ones. The last words that came out of his mouth were to his daughter Andrea. And he leaves us all with

many moments of joy. We were all blessed to have met such a loving, kind and cheerful man! But one

day we will be united again in the presence of our Lord!

Cariñosamente conocido por sus amigos y familiares como Vichy o David...

Luis David Álvarez nació a Roberto y Esperanza Álvarez, el 15 de octubre de 1956 en la ciudad de

Coalcomán de Matamoros, Michoacán De Ocampo, México. Era el menor de cinco hermanos. Su

hermano Manuel y tres hermanas Lilia, María Eugenia, Carmen. David, como era conocido, dejaría

Coalcomán en 1974 a la edad de 18 años para ir a la Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo

en Morelia, México. Allí estudió Veterinaria y Economía. De 1980-81 vivió con su hermana Carmen y su

familia en Morelia, trabajando en el Gobierno del Estado. Luego se fue a Jiquilpan, Michoacán donde

vivió con su hermano Manuel y su familia, mientras trabajaba con él en Redes de Luz Eléctrica para la

ciudad. Su siguiente visita sería a su hermana mayor Lilia y su familia en Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México

en 1982. Allí encontró su amor por trabajar con la gente como guía turístico de Big Al's llevando a los

turistas a conocer su hermoso Vallarta. También fue Gerente de Relaciones Públicas en Princess

Cruises. Y trabajó en el Hotel Camino Real como Gerente de Recepción.

En Agosto de 1982 nace su primera hija Rosy, en la ciudad de Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México, también

en 1982 en Noviembre nace su segunda hija Sasha en Seattle, Washington, USA. A finales de 1983 llegó

a California en camino a Washington. En California conoció y se casó con la que sería la madre de sus

dos últimos hijos David Samuel en 1985 y Andrea Cristina en 1989. Estuvo casado durante 26 años y

vivió los últimos 13 años de su vida felizmente con su hijo David y su familia.

Una vez en los Estados Unidos, David continuaría su búsqueda de conocimiento trabajando en varios

trabajos, principalmente utilizando su verdadero don de trabajar con personas. Fue camarero en el

restaurante El Torito durante más de 10 años, fue técnico de emergencias médicas para ambulancia

AMR más de 15 años ayudando a su comunidad a salvar vidas, y luego como conductor de camión para

DBS, una empresa donde también trabajaba su esposa. Fue Representante de Servicio al Huésped para

el Hotel Hilton en Irvine. Y Coordinador de Pacientes en Park Buena Heart Center. Su último trabajo sería

con su hijo en Griswold Industries, también conocido como CLA VAL como mecánico de mantenimiento.

A David también le encantaba trabajar con computadoras y estudió Técnico en Computación más tarde

en su vida. Era un hombre de gran inteligencia y le gustaba estudiar y aprender diferentes materias. Más

Dondequiera que estuviera David, en el trabajo o fuera del trabajo, hacía amigos fácilmente. Y cuando lo

encontraban años después lo recordaban con gran cariño. Si podía ayudar a alguien a obtener su

licencia, o vivir con él mientras conseguían un apartamento, lo hacía de todo corazón. Siempre contaba

chistes y era el alma de cualquier fiesta en la que estuviera. También asistió al Centro de Fe Cristiano en

Costa Mesa y a The Crossing Church en Newport Beach e hizo relaciones muy cercanas allí.

A David le sobreviven sus tres hermanas, Lilia, María Eugenia y Carmen, y la viuda de su hermano

Norma. Sus cuatro hijos, Rosy, Sasha, David y Andrea, y sus cónyuges / parejas;  sus dos nietos, Eleyna

de 12 años y Bebe Dave de 2 años al cual le llamaba “grandpa”y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas a quienes

quería mucho.

Vivió una vida plena y feliz, incluso al final de su vida estuvo rodeado de sus hijos y seres queridos. Las

últimas palabras que salieron de su boca fueron para su hija Andrea. Y nos deja a todos con muchos

momentos de alegría. ¡Todos tuvimos la bendición de haber conocido a un hombre tan amoroso,

amable y alegre! ¡Un día estaremos unidos de nuevo en la presencia de nuestro Señor!
