It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Lidia Rivera Guízar, on January 5th, 2023 at the age of 74.
Lidia was born in Morelia, Michoacán on December 28th, 1948 and was extremely proud of her farm girl roots. She was an incredible seamstress and spent 60 years perfecting her trade. She’s survived by her two children who were the center of her world: Emmanuel and Mayra. She enjoyed traveling with her kids and experiencing new sights. She found so much joy in simplicity and was present in every moment she lived.
Madre, you are the true definition of unconditional love. As a single mother, you devoted your entire life to being the most incredible mother, something my brother and I will never be able to thank you for enough. You taught us that through educational and hard work, we could reach our dreams, and you stood by our side as we accomplish each dream. You encourage us to be strong in our morals, keep reaching higher, and never give up. Your compassion, optimism, charm, and incredible spirit will remain unmatched. You also had a witty sense of humor that would catch everyone off guard, which only made you more endearing and lovely. Whether someone knew you for 5 minutes or their entire lives, you made everyone feel seen, heard, loved, and like they belonged.
You are our inspiration for living a great life and not taking a second for granted in this fragile journey. You live on in our hearts until we have the pleasure of seeing you again.
Lidia’s rosary and mass will be held at St. Boniface in Anaheim, CA, Friday, January 27, at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange. Follow in the procession.
