With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kathleen O’Rourke Nixon Brown. 

 

Born in 1942 and raised in the 50’s, she was a rebel and a trendsetter, trapped in a Catholic School uniform.  She was the girl who cut her hair into a pixie before anyone else. 

 

She believed in standing up for people, and was fearless in advocating for social justice. Her golden rule was “live and let live,” and she passed this on to her three daughters, their husbands, and her eleven grandchildren, all of whom she loved unconditionally. 

 

She was honest, loyal, and trustworthy. She knew how to listen.  And she gave great advice. 

 

She lived with Alzheimer’s for the past 15 years, but never lost her essence.   Quick with a laugh, and generous with her heart, we were lucky enough to hear her “I love yous” until the end. 

 

A service to celebrate Kathy’s life will be held at Chapel of Orange, June 28 at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

 

Rest in Peace, Kathy. Your life was a gift to all of us who were lucky enough to know you.
