Julia Hastings Obituary
On May 28, 1952, Rose and Herbert Bettinger became the proud parents to Julia (Julie) Ann. She was born right in the middle of her four siblings, Linda, Donna, Hilda and Herb and enjoyed a happy
childhood growing up in Berkey, Ohio. Following graduation from Evergreen High School in Metamora in 1970, Julie moved to California after being enticed by years of watching beautiful sunny weather during the annual Rose Parade shown on TV in snowy Ohio. There, Julie had three children - Megan, Scott and Nichole. She had been married and divorced twice, but eventually found the love of her life, Tim Hastings, and
they were married on May 17, 2003 after dating for over nine years. Together, they helped welcome Greg, Jamie and Adora into the family as each child got married. Happily, she also had five
beautiful grandchildren, Carlie, Emily, Joshua, Kyle and Allison.
She adored each of her grandkids immensely. Julie spent her career in team lead roles, and was highly appreciated and respected by both management and her associates. She was happy to eventually retire in 2017. Julie loved time with family, iced tea, karaoke in earlier days, ipad time, reading, writing poetry, crafting, crocheting, sewing, attending her grandchildren's events, gardening, music, decorating her home (chickens fascinated her for over a decade), making deviled eggs and trying to rid her yard of her nemesis... lizards. She had a vibrant laugh and especially loved Christmas with family. Her entire family is grateful to everyone at UCI and VITAS Hospice for their care and support. Julie passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026 in Santa Ana, CA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to donorbox.org/more-than-a-caregiver as Julie had a big heart
for those with living with autism.
A celebration of life event for Julie will be held on Friday, June 12".
