Judie Dursteler Obituary

Judie Mae (Scott) Dursteler 8/30/43 -11/14/21

On November 14, 2021, Judie’s Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, called her to her permanent HOME with Him.  It was unexpected for those of us who loved her but not unexpected to the ONE who she placed her trust in.

Judie was born on August 30 1943 in Ann Arbor, Mi, the oldest child to Freeman and Goldie Scott.  As a young girl she accepted Jesus as her Savior.  She grew up in Ann Arbor where she attended school and graduated from Ann Arbor High.  From there she went on to attend Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee.  In the mid 60’s she followed her parents to live in CA where she started teaching and met and married her husband Wilmer Dursteler in 1967.

She continued teaching, tutoring and in later years supported other teachers as a teacher’s aid.

She loved to sing and was involved in her church choir.  She enjoyed the old hymns and one of her many favorites was the hymn ‘His Eye is on the Sparrow’.

In 1982 she and Wilmer were blessed with being able to adopt Michael John.

She was a woman who loved cooking and trying out new recipes in the kitchen. Judie was not afraid of adding her own twists to recipes, either!  Letting little ones help her out in the kitchen baking and decorating cookies and making Christmas candies was one of the many things she enjoyed sharing with them.

Judie had many other interests which included knitting and when she could no longer knit she picked up quilting and enjoyed the fellowship of a ladies quilting club.  She also loved to read and enjoyed chatting with her older brother and younger sister on what books each was reading.  She loved phone calls and visits from her siblings and their families.

Her family was her greatest joy.  Her grandchildren were her heart and joy as well as her son and wife, Heather Leanne.  She will be missed by one and all who knew her.  Her love for her Lord never diminished and her greatest desire was for those she loved would grow in the knowledge of how deeply they were loved by the Savior.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Julius and Laura Basler, and parents Freeman and Goldie Scott.  Loved ones that will miss Judie until they meet again are her husband of 54 years Wilmer Dursteler, her son Michael John Dursteler, daughter in law Heather Leanne, grandsons Landon and Brady, brothers Michael Scott of Michigan, Douglas Scott (Cathy Bronson Scott) of Washington, and sister Karen (Scott) Crepin (David Crepin) of Michigan, cousin Jill (Whittaker) Colodny (Bruce Colodny) of CA and several nieces, cousins.
