Joseph S. Barsa is survived by his wife of 64 years, Arline Barsa, his daughter Joanne and her husband Derrick Farino, his daughter Diane and her husband Chris Watts and his daughter Susan, his granddaughter Alena and her husband Sean, grandson Chad and his wife Viola, granddaughter Danielle, grandson Alec, granddaughter Lexy and her fiancé Brett, grandson Troy, granddaughter Chloe, and his great grandson Dylan.
Joe served in the US Army, earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration/finance from Pace University in New York, and moved his family to Villa Park, California from New Jersey in 1971. He was very involved in his community for 47 years before moving to Fullerton in 2018.
During his career, Joe began in finance and advanced to become the President and CEO of an international computer company, MAI International for most of his corporate career. He was a founding chairman of the board for Orange Community Bank and was on the Board of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation. He was active with St. Joseph Hospital for 40 years, including being on the Leadership Council for the hospital and working on the fundraising campaigns for the original emergency room, cancer center, and heart center as well as being a member of Todos, support guild for the hospital. In the late years of his career, he partnered in business and served as President and CEO of International Trailer Services with a fellow Villa Park City Councilman. He was elected twice to the Villa Park City council and served two terms as the Mayor of Villa Park. He was also involved in Rotary International for many years.
Joe was loved, admired, and respected by everyone who knew him. He lived a full and long life, touching many in his path. He gave generously and loved his family above all else, doing everything in his quiet, understated way. He has given his family so many cherished memories that we will continue to hold close to our hearts, honoring him, learning from his example, and sharing his legacy with future generations of our family.
