John S. Hamilton

John Sherman Hamilton of Diamond Bar, California passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

John was born November 19,1942 in Cumberland, Maryland.  He was the son of Howard Sherman and Eliza Mae (Lowery) Hamilton, who along with his younger brother David Hamilton, have preceded him in death.  He is survived by his siblings - Sharon Hamilton, Ruth Cramer (Bob), and Gene Hamilton.

He was the loving husband to his wife of 46 years, Raquel Hamilton, devoted father to Cheryl Korteweg (Martijn) and Michelle Margolis (David), and caring grandfather to Ben, Harley, Blake, Kailyn, and Lila.

John is a graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1960.  He is also a graduate of California State University, Long Beach, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.  After a year of Medical Technologist training, John served 33 years in various Director and Supervisory roles within the Los Angeles County Health System before retiring.

John enjoyed playing tennis, driving his yellow 1973 Corvette, taking care of his saltwater aquarium, learning all about computers, watching football and movies, and reading books, but he mostly enjoyed being a loving husband and father to his two girls.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 25th at 10:30 am with a Celebration of John’s Life beginning at 11:00 am at Chapel of Orange, 215 North Grand Street, Orange, California.  

Burial will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 7845 Santiago Canyon Road, Orange, California at 12:30 pm.  

A reception for family and friends will follow at Orange Hill Restaurant, 6410 E. Chapman Ave, Orange, California at 1:30 pm.
