Gloria Janicki (nee Gloria Lois Hotmer) was born on May 7th 1927 in Teaneck, NJ to Welthy Knoegy and Louis Hotmer. Gloria spent her entire childhood in Teaneck where she ultimately met and married the love of her life, Anthony Janicki. They were married April 30th, 1949, in Bogota, NJ and just celebrated their 73rd anniversary.
Gloria graduated from Teaneck High School in 1945. She attended Arcadia University (formerly Beaver College) in Glenside, PA.
Gloria is survived by her husband Anthony, son Robert (Kathleen), daughter Marilyn Fillipp, son Paul (Anne Trompeter), daughter Diane (Abe Cohen), six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Welthy Weigel, and brother Warren.
Gloria and her family lived in various places from New York City, Needham, MA, Princeton, NJ, Lake Forest, IL, the California Bay Area and, most recently, in Southern California.
Gloria was a homemaker par excellence where she employed her amazing skills in the culinary arts. She was also an accomplished seamstress. Her hobbies included bridge and travel and she visited Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, Sweden, Denmark and the USSR.
Gloria taught grade school for 2 years at St. Paul’s School in Princeton, NJ. She continued to work with children, volunteering to read to children in classrooms in various schools, which brought her much joy.
Gloria was involved in charitable work in many of the places she lived. She volunteered at The Church of the Holy Spirit, Lake Forest, IL, and volunteered with the Assistance League in several towns where her she and her family lived. Gloria served as President of both the Assistance League of Diablo Valley in Northern California and, more recently, the Assistance League of Anaheim.
