Gary Middleton Obituary
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gary Louis Middleton, a devoted husband, loving father, protective brother and uncle, on January 7, 2025 at the age of 62. Gary was born on February 5, 1962 to Robert Louis Middleton and Gloria Janet Middleton in St John’s, Antigua in the West Indies.
Gary is survived by the love of his life and beloved wife of 32 years, Lisa Middleton, and their 3 children, Spencer, Joshua and Sophia Middleton. They are a very close knit family full of love and faith.
Gary was the only son of seven children and is survived by his sisters: Gloria Decambra-Sparks, Sonia Allred, Crystal Chambers, Joanne Hadley and Denise Carneiro-Middleton. He is the proud uncle and great-uncle of at least fifty nieces and nephews, numerous brother in laws, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Robert and Gloria Middleton and his sister, Lorraine Powell, who passed away in October 2024.
Gary was a strong-willed and determined man. He attended Saint Anthony’s Catholic School and Santa Clara High School in Oxnard, California. As a child he enjoyed playing with his neighborhood friends, GI Joe military action figures and playing the trumpet. In high school, he played football, enjoyed poetry and volunteered in a Christian service program that supported families and children in Mexico. He attended San Diego State University where he played football and ruby's and dabbled in modeling. In his adult life he enjoyed cycling, hiking, fishing and many activities outdoors. He loved watching sports and classic cars. His favorite and first car was a 1968 Camaro. He was an incredible dancer and lover of music.
Gary had a fulfilling career in insurance sales and technology sales. He enjoyed working in the field, talking and interacting with people and helping them. He lived a life in service of others.
He was a cherished member of his community and a devout Christian, known for his unwavering love for his family, kind spirit and dedication to his work. He served as an usher and a host pastor at Saddleback Church, volunteered at food drives and hosted bible studies in his home.
Gary was one in a million, you didn’t have to be close to him to know that he was a stand up guy. He was the type of person that always wanted to make others feel special, whether it was someone he just met or a long time friend, he always had time for them. He would drop whatever he was doing if one of his family members or friends needed a good laugh or smile, he was there and always got the job done. He was extraordinarily connected to the Lord, and inspired many of his friends, family, and coworkers to seek salvation in Jesus as well. The faithful way he led his life will forever be imprinted on the hearts of his wife, children, family and friends forever.
Gary took every role in life that he was given as a badge of honor. The loss of his presence on this Earth is indescribable. Words can’t possibly paint the picture of such a wonderful man. One can only hope that they get to experience such a husband, father, brother, uncle and friend like Gary. Those who had the blessing and honor to love and be loved by Gary know exactly how divinely unforgettable he is.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Although we find it unbearable to live without him, we take comfort in knowing he is home in heaven dancing with all of God’s angels, and as we remember and hear his laughter, we know he is no longer suffering from any health problems.
We know Gary would not want us to be sorrowful about his heavenly departure, he would want us to be joyful and think of all the good memories that we had with him. We know everytime we pray and worship the Lord, Gary will be right there with us guiding us every step of the way. For this life on Earth is short compared to the eternity that God has promised us in Heaven. For we know when it’s our time, Gary will be first to greet us with his beautiful smile and his warm embrace to welcome us home. Until we meet again, we love you Gary to Heaven and back.
"Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them"
