Elisa Guajardo’s Obituary

On Sunday, January 10, 2021, Elisa Guajardo died at the age of 88 and is survived by her husband David of 70 years, her daughter Elsie, son in law Eddie and grandchildren Eden and Eduardo. 

Elisa was born on November 13, 1932 in Roswell, New Mexico, to Alejo and Hortencia Garcia.  She received degrees from Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio and Chapman University in Orange, California.  On October 15, 1950 she married David R. Guajardo in Roswell, New Mexico.

She served Orange Unified School District as a teacher and high school counselor.  Education was very important to her and loved pouring herself into her students and their future.

Elisa loved her family, being involved in the education process of students, but her real passion was music.  A few of her musical accomplishments were playing the piano, violin and most recent were learning to play guitar and ukulele. Of all she loved singing in the choir at church and the Community Choral under the leadership of Mike Short.  Highlights of her year were always preparing for the Tree Lighting Ceremony in downtown Orange and the celebration for the 4th of July at Fred Kelly Stadium with the community choir.  She always was willing and able to participate in any other performances the choir might be invited to.

Traveling also brought her much joy and she was able to see the world, but chaperoning the Orange High School Choir on various trips were her fondest memories.  She was able to combine music with accompanying students to have new experiences.
