On March 24, 2021, Donald LeRoy Swenson, 89, reunited with his beloved wife Helen Frances Swenson in eternity, leaving behind his earthly home in Villa Park, where he had lived for 55 years. Donald is survived by his three children, Christine Kutz, Robert Swenson, and James Swenson, and by seven grandchildren, as well as seven great-grandchildren. He was born in Hastings, Nebraska on March 21, 1932, to Fredrick and Helen Josephine Swenson, and had an older sister and younger brother. Donald joined the U.S. Marines for two years, then enlisted in the Navy in 1952, serving for four years, including in the Korean War. He met his wife Helen Frances in 1950 at a YMCA dance in Omaha, Nebraska. They married in Oakland, California, in 1952. In 1955, Donald started working at North American Aviation, continuing to work for successor companies for 35 years, until his retirement in 1990. He then enjoyed traveling with his wife, particularly cruising around the globe. After her passing in 2009, Donald filled his time with his family, studying genealogy and building an impressive collection of Lladro figurines and Kachina Dolls. Donald was intelligent, hard-working, dependable, and generous. He will be missed immensely by his treasured family.
