Donald Everett Rogers was born January 25, 1941 in Los Angeles, California to Damon Everett Rogers and Merl May Northey Rogers. He attended South Gate High School and graduated in Winter of 1959. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS St. Paul as a Quartermaster. His years of service took him to the western Pacific including the Philippines, Japan, and Laos with an honorable discharge as a Vietnam Veteran. Upon returning home, Don married his high school sweetheart Barbara Burgdorf. They raised two daughters, Debbie and Jennifer, first in Garden Grove before moving to Anaheim Hills in 1976. Don coached soccer for over 20 years both in the Canyon Hills League and at Lutheran High School of Orange County. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder and on the Board of Worship and Music. Don retired after a long career with Southern California Edison and enjoyed camping and traveling with family and friends. Everyone who knew Don enjoyed his quick wit and comedic ways. Laughter and smiles were never in short supply with him around and memories of him will be cherished.
