Dolores M. King

Dolores M. King, 94, died peacefully on April 25, 2024, in Laguna Hills, CA. She was born in Perth Amboy, NJ.
Dolores graduated from Trenton State College, Class of 1951, earning a BS in Education, and taught at the elementary level in Woodbridge Township Schools. She married at Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Fords, NJ, and settled in Colonia, NJ, with her husband before relocating to Santa Ana, CA., where she taught for several years in the Orange and Santa Ana Unified School Districts.
After retirement from teaching, her skills were applied to other exciting and unique careers:
Co-owner of a beverage store, Montgomery Ward carpet sales, and 20 years in the Nordstrom Children's Shoe Department at South Coast Plaza. Upon leaving Nordstrom, she became her husband's navigator and cook, delivering freight across the country in the passenger seat of their Peterbilt 18-wheeler.
As a lifelong learner, she was an avid crossword puzzler and Sudoku player and enjoyed always finding the perfect word to say.

Her husband of 45 years, Richard C. King, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin, Richard, and Sean of Orange County, CA., Keith, and his wife, Bernadette, of Stockton, CA., and daughter Julie Alice and her husband, Jeffrey Smith, of Cumming, GA.
She was a proud and loving grandmother and great-grandmother to her ten grandchildren, Kristofer, Christina, Alisa, Cheryl, Kevin Jr., Siah, Keith Jr., Nathaniel, Ethan, and Reagan, and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be from 10am - 12pm on Monday, May 13, at the Chapel of Orange,
215 N Grand St, Orange, CA 92866.
Luncheon reception will immediately follow at Renata's Cafe Italiano, 227 E Chapman Ave F, Orange, CA 92866.

A graveside service will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W. McCabe Road, Santa Nella, CA 95322.
