Diane Marie Hovinga

Diane Marie Hovinga was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on September 25, 1945, the eldest daughter of Charles and Marcella Dunneback. At the age of 4 or 5 the family moved to Santa Barbara, California and later to Orange, California where she lived the rest of her life.

Diane loved holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. For years she went all out decorating for both. At Christmastime she was famous for her cookie platters, baking for weeks to selflessly give to her family and friends. She also enjoyed church, gardening, arts and crafts, and taking care of her family.

Diane passed away at home on March 12, 2026, surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband of 46 ½ years, Dale Hovinga, two daughters, Marcella Stouffer and Cynthia Hovinga, and sister Tina Dunneback. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jeanie Hemme, and in-laws Henry and Grace Hovinga.
