Christina Tassos

Christina Ann Tassos passed away on July 30, 2026 after a valiant journey with pancreatic cancer. Born January 23, 1960, Christina was adopted at birth by Nicholas and Shafeca Tassos. She grew up in Charleston, West Virginia, and was an active member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral. As a child, Christina played tennis and the trumpet, and enjoyed spending time with her many relatives and close friends. She attended both West Virginia University and the University of Charleston, and ultimately obtained a nursing degree and became an RN, working in hospitals, home health and eventually outpatient surgery centers. Always active in church ministry, she also worked as a nurse at Antiochian Village church camp. In her early 30s, she attended seminary at St. Vladimir’s in New York, where she met her husband, Michael. 

After marrying, Michael took her last name, and they moved back to West Virginia, where Michael was ordained a priest (becoming “Fr. Michael”). There, they had three children, Caitlin, Juliana, and Nicholas, whom they raised in Christina’s childhood home. Personal and professional decisions led them to decide to move to California (where Fr. Michael is from), and they relocated, first to Palmdale, and then to Tustin. Christina happily supported Fr. Michael at several parishes, including Holy Cross in Palmdale, and St. Luke in Garden Grove, and continued her ministry by baking church bread, teaching Sunday School, feeding the homeless and sewing bibs for hospice patients.

Christina was a beautiful, kind person. She was an incredible mother, and took great pride in her children. She was an amazing cook, a talented sewer, and a true friend. Shortly before she passed, she achieved her favorite title: “Sittee” (meaning “grandmother” in Arabic) to her beloved granddaughter, Anastasia. Our beloved wife, mom, sittee, and friend will be dearly missed.

Christina is survived by her loving husband, Fr. Michael Tassos; daughters Caitlin (Taylor) and Juliana; son, Nicholas; granddaughter, Anastasia; and grand-dog, Bartok. 

Funeral Service - Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 12pm at St. Luke Orthodox Church (13261 Dunklee Ave, Garden Grove), followed immediately by a Meal of Mercy in the fellowship hall.

Graveside Service – Monday, August 10, 2026 at 10am at Fairhaven Memorial Park (1702 Fairhaven Ave, Santa Ana)
