Cheryl Ann Bui Obituary
Cheryl Bui, 65, passed away on January 22, 2026, in Newport Beach, California, surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 30, 1960, in Encino, California, and from the very beginning lived with a spirit that was unmistakably her own. Cheryl was generous, fearless, and full of love. She expressed these qualities not just in words, but in the way she consistently showed up for the people in her life.
A devout Catholic, Cheryl’s faith was central to who she was and how she lived. It guided her compassion, sustained her through life’s challenges, and shaped her unwavering belief in service, dignity, and love for others. Even in difficult moments, she trusted deeply in God and lived her faith through action.
Cheryl married her devoted husband, David Bui, 35 years ago. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two sons. She loved her family with all her heart, caring for them with a steadfast love that shaped their lives in ways both big and small. Her love revealed itself in countless ways, and it will continue to be felt long after her passing.
Cheryl also found deep joy in helping those in need. Whether hosting fundraisers, serving and feeding the homeless, or helping students prepare college applications, she gave her time and energy with enthusiasm, care, and conviction. Even in her final days, Cheryl remained focused on the needs of others, reflecting a lifelong commitment to service, one she was determined to pass on to those around her.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, David; her sons, Matthew and Wyatt; her mother, Virginia Buonarati; and her siblings, Michael Buonarati, Scott Buonarati, Beth Tilford and Holli Gregory. She leaves behind a family and community forever touched by her compassion, strength, and faith.
She will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in every act of kindness, service, and love inspired by her example.
Cheryl's favorite color was navy blue, so please feel free to wear blue.
