It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Candy Lei Speer on January 6, 2025, at the age of 72. Candy was born on February 9, 1952 in San Diego, C.A., to Alfred and Barbara (Nee Pickilick) Jusselin.

 

Candy was known for her strong compassion, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family and community. She was always, and remains, a constant source of inspiration to those lucky enough to have known her.

 

Candy worked as a Registered Nurse for Saint Jospeh Hopital where she received numeous awards for her service, skill and patient relations. She worked predmoninatly with ill and pre-mature babies in the neo-natal NICU. She often said it was an honor to do so, rather than a job and that she loved it dearly. Later, when back problems prevented her from working the floor any longer, she worked for NurseComm as a hospice triage call center nurse. After retiring, she enjoyed baking and cooking (a lifelong hobby), as well as reading and listening to records.

Survived by: sons Matthew Speer, Bradley Speer; daughter-in-law Kristine (Byrne) Speer; grandchildren Kaylee, MacKenzie, Jacob; sister Debbie (Jusselin) Brees, brother-in-law, Lance Brees; brother Dana Jusselin, sister-in-law Diana Jusselin; brother Hugh Jusselin, and she is survived by several loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Private funeral services are under the direction of Shannon Family Mortuary, Orange, CA. Funeral service and remembrances will be held at Chapel of Orange in Orange, CA on Sunday, March 16th at 1:00PM.
