Our Beloved Bogdan Szymanek, age 71, found peace on April 15, 2026, following a determined battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at home holding his wife’s hand. Bugsy was born on March 30, 1955 in Poland born to Josefa and Mitchell Szymanek. Bugsy is survived by his wife Irene, eldest son Robert and his wife Jennifer, his daughter Tania and her husband Tony, his youngest son Tony and his wife Angie, and his 4 grandchildren Alyssa, Aidan, Dylan and Ava. Bugsy will be remembered for his humor and dedication to his family. He enjoyed flying pigeons, enjoying good food and drinks with family and friends. Bugsy was a self employed machinist who strived to provide a better life for his family. The family thanks the Hospice care team for their compassion and care for Bugsy. 

While his family and friends struggle to understand this profound loss, they find comfort in the vibrant way he lived each day. 

A funeral mass will be held on 4/27/26 @10am at St Columban Catholic church in garden grove. A viewing will follow at the chapel of Orange from 12-2pm. Immediately following the viewing the family invites everyone to join them at Mimi’s Cafe in Anaheim on Harbor Blvd to celebrate and share memories of Bugsy’s well lived life.
