Obituary for Bernice Augusta Gerken

Born: August 27, 1924 in Olive (Orange), CA     Died: April 1, 2022 in Orange, CA at home at the age of 97 years surrounded by family.

Bernice was a faithful lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Orange, CA also having served as its secretary for many years. Her Confirmation verse was: “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

Bernice’s Family includes her Sister Gayle Timken

Children: Stewart Gerken (Mary) of Galva, Kansas, Bonnie (nee Gerken) Krenz (David) of Carson City, Nevada, Michael Gerken (Bobbie) of Orange, CA.

Grandchildren: Corey Gerken (Janet), Vince Martinez, Jobie Gerken (Mary), Carl Gerken, David Paul Krenz (Cassandra), Lisa (nee Krenz) Laux, (Ryan) Hannah Krenz and Jonathan Krenz (Mirinda), Katie Gerken and Hayley Gerken.

Bernice has 9 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews. She was “adopted Grandma Gerken” to many more children.

Bernice is preceded in death by her beloved Husband Elmer, her brother Lawrence and her sister Lorena as well as their respective spouses Matilda and Arthur and 1 Great Grandchild.

A Memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 185 S. Center St., Orange on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 10 am, Pastor Ronald Martin presiding.
