Alicia Torres was called home by God on April 3, 2018. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
Alicia was born on March 7, 1945 in Rivas, Nicaragua. The second of five sisters, Alicia was born to Eduardo Ruiz and Amanda Ruiz Castillo. She and her four sisters grew up and lived in Rivas their entire childhood. As a young adult, Alicia traveled to Los Angeles, California to visit her Aunt Sara. While there, she met her future husband, Regino Isaac Torres. Ten months later they were married on October 29, 1966 and a year later they welcomed a son, Isaac Eduardo Torres. Two years after that, they welcomed a daughter, Vanessa Giovanna Torres.
Alicia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. When her children were young, she spent her time volunteering at their school. As they got older, Alicia decided to work, spending most of that time working at Consumer Credit Counseling as a Trust Specialist. After 18 years there, she decided to retire.
Alicia was a woman of strong Catholic faith who taught her family to trust in God. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Isabella and Natalia. She enjoyed cooking, in fact she was excellent at it. She would watch a cooking video or read a recipe and try it out adding her own flavor to it. Alicia also loved to go shopping. It was a favorite Saturday afternoon pastime with her daughter. One of her favorite activities was watching her granddaughters play soccer.
Alicia is survived by her husband of 51 years, Regino. She is also survived by her son, Isaac and his wife, Teresa, daughter, Vanessa and granddaughters, Isabella and Natalia. Alicia is also survived by her four sisters, Mirna, Rhina, Sara and Linda, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
