Albert Gerard Verkuylen Obituary
Albert Gerard Verkuylen, beloved father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026 in Villa Park, California at the age of 72.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Paula Vrzic (Milos) and Annemarie; his grandchild, Emilija; his sisters and brother: Adriana “Jane” Jamison (Mark), Trudy Buckner (Sean), JoAnn Honeycutt Verkuylen, Gerard Verkuylen (Leslie), and Paula Reigel; and many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Yvonne.
He was born on August 8, 1953 in Appleton, Wisconsin to Martin and Johanna Verkuylen of The Netherlands.
Albert received his primary education at Holy Name and spent a formative year at Sacred Heart Seminary before graduating from Kimberly High School in 1971.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a degree in Broadfield Social Studies, he started his career as a Social Studies teacher and an athletics coach before moving to Southern California where he pivoted to working in the title industry. After spending more than 30 years focused on title and closing, credit reporting, flood certification and automated valuation, Albert retired as the executive vice president of title and escrow strategy for ServiceLink.
He married the love of his life, Yvonne Pagaduan, after being introduced by his sister and going on a blind date. 35 years of marriage gave them the best of everything: a love that never wavered, adventures they’d never forget, and a home always full of laughter.
Even with all the success he had in his professional life, his most cherished roles were that of a family man. He journeyed from a devoted son and protective eldest brother to a cherished uncle and godfather, eventually finding his ultimate fulfillment as a husband, father, and grandfather. To him, family was the only wealth that truly mattered.
Driven by curiosity and a love for life, he spent his days traveling, volunteering, and soaking up the energy of live music and sports. He was a man of many passions, but few things topped his devotion to the Green Bay Packers - Go, Pack, Go!
His was a life well-lived - steeped in faith, fueled by hard work, and brightened by a beautiful, goofy sense of humor. Though he is gone, the impact of his love and the strength of his character will be carried forward by all of us who were blessed to call him ours.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Albert’s honor to The Presentation Sisters Retirement. This organization was a cause close to Albert’s heart, and he took great pride in organizing many events to support their mission.
Following the Mass of Christian Burial and Interment, a reception will be held at The Villa by Villa Park Catering. All are welcome to attend as we celebrate Albert's life and legacy.
