Albert Joseph Koob passed away peacefully at his home, on October 27, 2023.
Al was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 5, 1933, the eldest of Albert B. Koob and Catherine Kelly Koob’s three sons.
He attended neighborhood Catholic schools for the entirety of his primary and high school education. After obtaining an academic scholarship, he next attended La Salle College, where he majored in Industrial Management. Al found time to participate in 5 school clubs, including Glee and being Senior Editor of the yearbook. He graduated in 1954.
Next Al enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, proudly serving as a Lieutenant in the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines.
During this same time, he married Donna Frances Reilley, on December 8, 1956 at St. William’s Church, in Philadelphia. They had grown up on the same street, and she had been his date to his Senior Prom.
Busy years followed, as their family grew. His career moved them several times, the largest relocation bringing them to California.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Donna on April 2, 2001, after 45 years of marriage.
Another time of happiness came to him when he married Norma Boyd in 2004, and they then shared 19 years together.
Among Al’s children, he was preceded in death by his son Michael in 2012, and his son Christopher in 2020. His granddaughter Allison Crews passed away in 2005. His stepdaughter Lee Ann Boyd died in 2021.
He is survived by his wife Norma Koob, daughter Kimberly Crews (Glen), and son Matt Koob (Laura).
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Al’s strong and steadfast Catholic faith in his Savior was the guiding force in his entire life.
