Teresa Marie (Drapeau) Mansell

Teresa was born in Inglewood in 1960 to Henry and Mary Ellen Drapeau.   She had one sister, Cecilia.  She grew up in Lawndale, California and graduated with the Class of 1978 from Bishop Montgomery High School.    She has degrees in Political Science/Law and Society from University of California-Riverside, Accounting from California State University-Long Beach, and Master of Business Administration from California State University-Fullerton.

Teresa and Mark were married on July 12, 1986 at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Torrance.   They lived in the City of Orange since March 1989.

Teresa was given a special gift from her sister Cecilia.   Teresa had been suffering from renal disease.   In 1982, Cecilia donated one of her kidneys to Teresa.   The kidney lasted an extraordinary 33 years, allowing Teresa to live a full, productive life.    Teresa has always loved Cecilia as her hero, as well as being her best friend.

Teresa always loved being part of family—both her side, as well as Mark’s.   She enjoyed being with her aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law.   She was very proud to be chosen for godmother for Cecilia and Steve’s daughter Sara, Kathy and Greg’s son Andrew, and most recently, Stephen and Sonia’s son Ivan.    One of her favorite hobbies was genealogy, which allowed her to learn even more about her family.

Teresa loved being able to contribute her talents.   Through the years, she volunteered at church through several ministries.   She was particularly involved in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Third World Gifts and Handarts.

She passed away peacefully on November 23 after several months of numerous health issues.   She is survived by her husband, Mark, and her sister Cecilia, as well as her aunts Jeannie and Patricia, and the numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and her brothers and sisters-in-law that she loved.

Teresa’s funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Cathedral, 566 S. Glassell St. in Orange at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, January 3.   A reception at Shannon Family Mortuary will follow, at 137 E. Maple Ave. in Orange.
