Reynaldo Perez Tovar was born on August 31, 1936 in Uruapan, Michoacán de Ocampo, Mexico. He was one of 14 children of Ignacio Tovar Chapa and Severiana Perez Ballesteros.

In 1954 he came to the United States as a bracero. Shortly thereafter, he began to work in asphalt pavement; an occupation he did until he retired as Superintendent with J&S Asphalt and Paving Co. in San Diego. Reynaldo passed peacefully at his home the morning of January 9, 2018. 

He is survived by his wife, Elsa,  brother, Eliseo Tovar, sisters, Amelia Rodriguez, Albertina Tovar, and Isabel Tovar. Sons, Gerardo and David; daughters, Ruby, Lesby and Rosa. As well as nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
