Orlando Joseph Glasman was born on October 6, 1932 and named after his father, but went by the name Joe. He had two older brothers, Jack and Dick, and one younger sister, Peggy. He was born in Billings, Montana and lived throughout Montana, the Dakotas and Iowa. As an eighth grader, he had the distinct honor of carrying the Bishop’s train at religious events. He attended Theodore Roosevelt High school in Des Moines, Iowa. He continued to have reunions with his high school buddies from Teddy High into his eighties.
Joe attended University of Iowa where he met and married his wife, Jo Ann Evans, On December 27, 2019 they would have been married 65 years. As a student, he joined ROTC to help pay for college and served in the Air Force for 3 years after graduation. He was then hired by the Eastman Kodak company as a salesman. Joe and Jo Ann had six children and they lived all over the country: Houston, TX, Sacramento, CA, Topeka, KS, Rochester, NY, Lubbock TX, Oklahoma City, OK, Dallas, TX. Exton, PA and Naperville, IL. The family settled in Orange, California in 1972.
Joe was a member of St. Norbert’s Catholic church for 47 years. He was a devoted husband and father. Joe was a sports fan: loved playing golf and watching football, golf and basketball on TV. He loved trout fishing in Mammoth, CA, where the family vacationed every summer, but also wherever he could find fish.
He died on November 26, peacefully at home, after several months of declining health. A Vigil Service will be held Friday, December 13 at 6:30pm at Shannon Funeral Home, 137 East Maple, Orange, CA 92866. Funeral Mass will be held at noon on December 14 at St. Norbert’s Catholic Church, 300 E. Taft Ave., Orange, CA 92865. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann Glasman; his brother Jack Glasman (Janie); his children Laura Parker (Steve); Stephanie Taft (Mark); Susan Wilkinson (Kirk); Richard Glasman (Kathleen); Steve Glasman (Claudia); Jennifer Carroll (John); 15 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
