Irene Macri

Our beloved mother, Irene "Rene" Macri, passed away on February 4th, 2019 at the age of 97.

She was predeceased by her husband, James "Jimmy" Macri, and her son, James "Butch" Macri and is survived by her daughter, Rita Osborn, son, Kerry Macri, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Born in London, England, the youngest of ten children, she spent her teenage years as a member of a dance troupes, called The Four Rebels, known for Pep Punch and Personality.  As a young women, during the war, she loved dancing at the Hammersmith Palais with the young soldiers from Canada stationed in England.  It was there that she met her husband, Jimmy Macri.  After they were married, and the birth of their daughter, Rita, she made her way to Canada to wait out the war and her husbands return.  Finally, with a move to California, she pursued a career in women's fashion, and used her fashion sense to sell designer clothes in establishments located in the Disneyland Hotel, Nordstrom and other stores throughout Orange County.  No matter what endeavor she undertook, she propelled herself forward, long before anyone ever thought of women's rights.  She faced every challenge with charm, composure (sometimes not so much), and wit, in a perfect English accent.  

We love and will miss you mum, and know that you are "knees up" with dad, Butch, May, Ivy, Ada, Eva, Olive, Charlie, Harry, Will, Jill, Len, Gran, Grandad and all the rest.
