Irene (Estrada) Gonzalez

Irene (Estrada) Gonzalez passed away at home on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at the age of 92.

She was born June 28, 1927, the oldest of ten children. She is survived by her eight children, Rita Ruiz, Lupe Gonzalez, Jennie Fornicola, Mary Johnson, Vickie Merlino, Joe Gonzalez, Cathy Goodman, Vivian Schumacher and preceded in death by Edward Morales; nineteen grandchildren, seventeen great- grandchildren and five surviving siblings.

Irene grew up in Delhi with parents Jose and Juana Estrada as well as five brothers and four sisters.

In 1985, Irene lost the love of her life, Edward P. Gonzalez of thirty two years.

Irene was a dedicated Republican and Ronald Regan supporter, a very successful Avon lady and had a green thumb for gardening. She would spend hours gardening while enjoying the smell of the flowers and watching the humming birds.

In October 2014, after residing in her home of fifty years on Celeste Circle in Santa Ana, She sold her home and spent her remaining years with daughter Vivian.

In November of 2016, Irene suffered a major stroke which caused complications. Soon after she became a fan of the I Love Lucy show. She kept her sense of humor and continued to remain strong.

Irene lived a long happy life, Irene was a loving, caring sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. Irene was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
