Grant “Butch” Bernard Taverna was 76 years of age when he passed away on July 25, 2019. He is survived by his sister, Annette Marie (Taverna) Barnes. He also leaves behind 2 nieces and 4 nephews, as well as eight great nieces and four great nephews. His youngest niece being born the day after he passed.
He was born in Wabasha, Minnesota on the 21st of June 1943 to Arvella Marie (LaRivere) Taverna and Grant “Babe” Bernard Taverna. He joined the Navy while still in high school as a reservist, and after serving 4 years active duty he returned home to work in a bowling that he loved in Garden Grove, California. He then went on to work at Disneyland Hotel with his younger brother Peter Taverna as a chef in one of their upscale restaurants. Just shy of 40 years with the Disney he retired to a life of daily walks around Old Town Orange, California and frequent visits to the library. He also loved to visit Downtown Disney now and then as well as the park if only for a day of nostalgia, shopping, and a tasty meal. He was an avid collector of books and history, his favorite collection being that of John F. Kennedy. He was a cherished member of the family, especially to his sister and niece and great niece whom he spent time with often.
He will be dearly missed and the family finds solace in knowing he has been reunited with his parents and younger brothers.
