Frederick Galvan Castañeda passed into the arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ on May 31, 2018. He was born in Santa Ana, California on February 6, 1938 in the "Delhi Barrio". He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia Castañeda, 17 Godchildren who he was very proud of, three sisters, four brothers, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, compardes, comadres and many friends .
He was devoted to his Catholic faith and interceding prayer to Our Blessed Mother Mary and Our Lady Guadalupe.
He was a hardworking man who loved all people. He had a passion for ministry to the poor through the Orange County Council Society of St. Vincent de Paul, first as co-founder of the St. Vincent de Paul Conference at Holy Family Cathedral in 1978 and for 22 years as Production Manager in the St. Vincent Warehouse. He was also a member of Labor Union Local 652 for many years.
He loved to dance to Rock and Roll, Salsa and Mariachi Music. He enjoyed family gatherings, Mexican food and beer. He was also a very talented sketch artist and worked as a Topiary Artist at Walt Disney World in Florida.
Services will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Holy Family Cathedral 566 S. Glassell Street, Orange, California, with Rosary Prayer Service at 11:15 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 12:10 P.M., concluding with interment at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 7845 E Santiago Canyon Rd, Orange, CA 92869.
