Diane Thompson was very unexpectedly and suddenly taken from all of us on February 24th2018, leaving a huge hole in the hearts of countless people in and around the community of Orange. Memories of the lady with the most magical laugh in all the land are kept alive by her daughter Sheryl, close friend and roommate John Francis Shook, her “other daughter” Jillian Misity, son-in-law Jason, three exceptionally spoiled dogs Clarabelle, Sonny and Rascal and a group of very close friends and family spread across places like Disneyland, Embassy Suites, Orange Master Chorale, Paul’s and O’Hara’s.
She lived a life where others came before her owns needs. No matter how little she had, Diane always made her home and heart open for whoever needed help or a place to stay while they got back on their feet. She put all of herself into her family, often times dropping everything to fully dedicate herself to caring for those that needed her.
Balanced with her infectious laugh and heart of gold, Diane was a strong woman who didn’t take crap from anyone. Her independent, trail-blazing drive earned her a spot as the first female lead of Monorail drivers at Disneyland, quickly accelerated her to a director position of human resources at Embassy Suites, and helped her raise an equally wonderful and courageous daughter.
Diane may have left us physically, but those who knew her will have memories of that laugh and the beautiful smile it came from to keep her with us forever.
