On the morning of April 1, 2019, Bruce Edward Beekman passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in Anaheim, CA.
Bruce was born in Upland CA on April 18, 1930, an only child to Clarence and Lydia Beekman. Growing up in Cucamonga, he enjoyed playing Football and Tennis in high school before attending junior college. He received a BS degree from San Diego State University, and a PhD degree from Indiana University, both in Biology. A passion for education, he became a college professor of Biology and Anatomy & Physiology at California State University Long Beach, where he retired after 34 years of teaching.
Bruce enjoyed a variety of hobbies throughout his life. He loved stamp collecting, photography, boating, hunting, fishing, desert target shooting, camping, motorcycles, reading, ancestry and later in life watching every Angel baseball game that was on TV. Bruce and his loving wife of 30 years, Marjorie Beekman, enjoyed retirement life by traveling 15 years across the US in their motor home.
Bruce is survived by his wife Marge, his 5 children Karen Mallum, Barbara Matula, David Beekman, Charlene Aguilar, Cynthia Marchette, 2 step-children Linda Sargent, Jane Herendeen, 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, along with many more loving family members. Bruce was a kind and gentle person that lived a fulfilling, wonderful life and loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed by all.
