Thomas “Tom” Patrick Dodge, 83, of Villa Park, CA was born September 16, 1940 in Hollywood, California to Delphine Marie (Duffy) and William Joseph Dodge as the second of three sons. The family moved to Arcadia where Tom graduated from Holy Angels Parochial School (1954) and Arcadia High School (class of 1958). He matriculated to Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, where he was involved in a theater group, introducing him to his wife, Donna. They were married in 1962 and grew their family beginning in late 1963. Tom earned his Bachelors in Business Administration at Orange State College, now known as Cal State University, Fullerton and then went on to achieve his MBA there as well while working full time. Tom was a life-long learner and remained curious until his final days.
Tom enjoyed various careers in the Real Estate and Finance industries and last year finally retired from his last business operation as a tax preparer and Enrolled Agent. Outside of his profession, Tom took active roles as a Cub Scout then Boy Scout leader in addition to Indian Princess (now known as Adventure Guides) leadership, while his children were young. He fully realized the benefit of these types of organizations for young people. Having been in Scouts himself and what he gained, he felt the need to give his full support as a parent/leader. In more recent years, Tom’s extensive involvement with and dedication to the Knights of Columbus brought him a sense of purpose and accomplishment as well as many good friendships that brought him so much joy.
Family was extremely important to Tom and he treasured time spent together at holidays, birthdays and other milestones and special events. He made every attempt to attend every performance and sporting event for both his children and grandchildren, camera in hand. Searching for photos of him proved challenging as he was always behind the action or the lens!
Tom will be greatly missed by his wife of almost 62 years, Donna, their children William (Bill) Dodge and Danielle Roedersheimer (Jeff), granddaughter Kalyn Pitt (Andrew) and her mother, Patti Dodge, and her daughter, Meghann Salgado (Frank), granddaughter Abigail Roedersheimer, grandson Max Roedersheimer, great grandchildren Nathalia and Frankie Salgado. Other surviving family: Tom’s cousin, Jan Arthur. sisters-in-law Janice Fulton and Sharon Dodge, nieces Caroline Kennedy (Ken), Annmarie Kolaric (Mike) and their families, as well as, nephew John Dodge (Denise). He is preceded in death by his parents, aunt and uncle as well as his brothers Robert Dodge and Phil Dodge, daughter, Suzanne Renee Dodge and niece Tammy Dodge.
