Michael Thomas Reynolds

September 11, 1946 – April 18, 2024

Mike was born in Sioux City, Iowa to Marjorie and Bruce Reynolds. The family moved to California in 1962 and settled in the city of Fullerton. Mike attended Fullerton High School, Fullerton Community College, and Cal State Fullerton. In February 1967 Mike joined the Navy. Mike’s 6 yr. Navy career was aboard Submarines, yes, all 6’1” of him. He served aboard WWII Diesel Subs that transported UDT teams on and offshore in Vietnam. After his time in Vietnam Mike went on to Nuclear Power School 1968/1969 and was then assigned as a Nuclear Plant Operator in May 1969 on Nuclear Subs. This time it was the Russians/Cold War he was protecting us from. Much of their activity is still classified information. He completed his Navy service in January 1973 and returned to Fullerton.

Mike worked for the City of Anaheim Public Utilities. He retired in September 2006 after 32 years. He loved his years at the city and was proud to be part of a growing community and their private utility system.

Mike’s passions were his family, his Christian faith, the US Navy, and golf.

Mike was a volunteer at heart. He was always willing to help and care for others. He volunteered at shelters, church leadership, church maintenance projects, church events like the Easter Pancake Breakfast and putting up the Christmas lights, also doing City of Anaheim community events and he made 150 sandwiches twice a month for Mary’s Kitchen in Orange for about 15 years.

Mike leaves behind his wife Ellen (Strazzere), married in Nov 2004. His sister Barbara and her husband Keith of Dana Point his sister Beverly of Fullerton. His children from a previous marriage Josh his wife Susan and their child Bruce Michael of Grain Valley, Missouri. Val her husband Nathaniel of Bellingham, Washington. He also leaves extended family members and many dear friends all of whom he loved.

Mike was diagnosed with Dementia (Alzheimer’s) in December 2017. In May 2021, his doctors determined it was time for Mike to be placed in a Memory Care Facility.

Mike chooses to not have a church service. He will be buried at Riverside National Cemetery with military honors. All are welcome.
