When my best friend, Pat (your sister, niece,aunt) asked me to check on her mom, it was my pleasure to do so picking her up in Laguna Hills and having a lengthy, warm, wonderful lunch and afternoon. What a joy she was! Please know you are all being thought and cared about and I hope you find special comfort in knowing your mother and all she meant to you and us, will remain in your hearts forever. She is in mine!

About 10 years ago Joan, her sister Peg and I went to the Palm Springs Follies.The show always closes with a salute to veterans and a military Retreat. Veterans of each service were invited to stand and the songs for each sung by cast and audience. hen this was finished, the Military Retreat began. I noticed that the audience had resumed their seats - except for My Cousin Joan.! She remained at full attention until Retreat was ended as she had done on active duty. I have 78 years of wonderful memories of Joan, but none that ever made me more proud of her and so well demonstrated her deep dedication to those things which she held dear.
